It’s a rare development project plan or sales proposal that doesn’t roll out phrases such as 'best practices' or 'performance benchmarks'. Best practice has become a trump card, played to supposedly show the best way to do whatever needs to be done.
Of course, there is value in learning from the experience and success of others. It’s natural and appropriate to recognise innovative solutions or services developed to resolve issues or create opportunities. But wouldn't it be helpful to have someone actually listen to your challenge, think about the scenarios and provide you with options and solutions?
